Sycamore High School Enhances Athletic and Academic Programs with ScoreVision

Published Sep 15, 2017, 01:00 am

Sycamore High School is a public high school serving a community of approximately 17,000 people and 1,200+ students. They’ve made an unwavering commitment to provide cutting-edge technology in order to enhance the learning experience for their students. The entire staff at Sycamore takes their responsibilities of youth development very seriously, and they’re always considering new ways to enhance their student, athlete and fan experiences.

When Athletic Director Chauncey Carrick first learned about the revolutionary ScoreVision software, he knew he had to get Sports Booster Club member David Coovert involved. Together, David and Chauncey made their dreams of getting the ScoreVision software and LED displays installed in both their indoor and outdoor facilities a reality.

The Booster Club paid for the multi-media systems through a mix of reserve funds, financing and new ad revenue they were able to secure due to the ad capabilities of the ScoreVision software. Coovert has raved about the functionality of the LED displays and couldn’t be more excited about the new, additional fundraising capabilities the system provides the Booster Club. He’s confident the system will pay for itself within 3 years and generate an additional $90,000 per year - money that will be used to fund additional athletic projects.

The ScoreVision software will not only enhance sporting events, the multi-media displays can be used to support academic and other special events at the school - it’s not just a scoreboard! The school plans to use the system as an educational tool for Spartan TV, and students will operate the system and produce commercials, hype videos and other content to be showcased on their ScoreVision display. The possibilities are endless, and new curricula will be developed around the system that at one time only benefited student-athletes.

“In theory, they could use the boards to stream an away game…..the possibilities are limited only by what we can think of; as word spreads on these, people are still coming up with ideas,” said David Coovert, Booster Club board member.

The entire community is rallying behind this exciting change at the school. To learn more about the impact this decision has had on the community, read the article recently published by the Daily Chronicle here.
