ScoreVision Replaces Old Scoreboards With Digital Edutainment Systems

Company Name: ScoreVision
CEO: Gordon Whitten
Headquarters: Omaha, NE

1. What is your elevator pitch?

ScoreVision is a new multimedia hardware and software platform that replaces old, traditional scoreboards in schools and sports facilities with an all-digital edutainment system that delivers professional, jumbotron-style experiences similar to those at the university or professional sports levels…at a fraction of the price.

The ScoreVision system turns any gymnasium into a multi-purpose presentation facility that can be leveraged for many other purposes by the school and the community when games aren’t in progress. In addition, it serves as a powerful educational tool for teachers and students while its sophisticated Ad management features can help generate revenue for the school.

2. Problem & Solution

Scoreboard technology has not kept up with the times. Scoreboards are still being sold in the old metal box style from 40 years ago. ScoreVision now offers a modern hardware and software solution that not only replaces the old scoreboard with an environment that delivers jumbotron-style experiences, it also provides a platform that can be leveraged by schools and communities in many ways every day of the week.

3. Market – your target market and the overall market

Our primary target audience is high schools and small colleges. While our product is being used by basketball and volleyball facilities serving youth teams, our primary market is schools across North America.

Overall, the market and industry is very stale and the response to our product offering has been amazing. Competitors offer newer versions of the same metal box that schools want to replace, and we offer a professional arena experience at a fraction of the price.

Our integrated ad-sequencing feature unleashes a world of fundraising opportunities for our customers – the system can pay for itself.

4. Business Model – how do you make money?

Revenue is generated in three ways: hardware sales, annual license fees for the ScoreVision software, and through advertising sales done by our Digital Media Sales Group. Customers and Prospects can hire our Digital Media Sales Group to help find and secure advertising partners, and once the hardware is paid for, we share the remaining ad dollars with the school, creating a win-win situation for all involved.

5. Management Team – with titles

6. What else do you want the audience to know about your venture?

We’ve doubled the size of our staff over the past 6 months, and we’re planning for double-digit growth over the next 6 months. We’ve outgrown our existing offices and we’re moving to a much larger office space in August. We’re excited to be working with schools all around the country.

The MARK in Elkhorn is one of the finest independently owned bowling and recreation centers in the country. Their 86,000 square foot facility sports a ScoreVision system on each of three brand new hardwood indoor courts fashioned for basketball, volleyball and other activities. OSA is a top-notch sports program that strives to meet the needs and interests of Omaha youth, adults and families by providing unparalleled programs, services and facility amenities. OSA has a ScoreVision system flanking each of their four indoor courts.

THE SCOREVISION SYSTEM

The ScoreVision solution was designed to facilitate the unique needs of league-style play that organizations like The MARK and OSA generally conduct—the type of play where it is not uncommon to host hundreds of games during a single tournament over a weekend. So, with over 2000 games played across both facilities in the first few months alone, the ScoreVision system has certainly become a “game changer” for both organizations.
