ScoreVision Debuts Innovative Scoreboard Solution at National AD Conference

Published Dec 12, 2015, 06:00 am

At the 2015 National Athletic Directors Conference, ScoreVision introduced a never-before-seen software solution that provides schools and sports facilities with all-digital scoreboards that deliver professional, jumbotron-like experiences similar to those at the college or pro sports level, but at a fraction of the price. ScoreVision was one of over 150 exhibitors at this year’s trade show. Exhibitors ranged from multisport traditional-style scoreboard companies like Daktronics, Fair-Play and Nevco, Inc. to athletic gear providers like Riddell to digital solution resources like Big Teams and to powerhouse sports drink manufacturers like Powerade.

The 2015 NIAAA Conference attendees were buzzing with excitement over the possibilities that this new, more-than-a-scoreboard solution could bring to their schools and communities. It’s a single system that can deliver a scoreboard solution tailored for basketball, volleyball and wrestling on demand. However, the theme that seemed to resonate the most with those who visited the ScoreVision booth was the realization that, with ScoreVision, their scoreboards would no longer have to sit idle 6 days out of the week when sporting events aren’t in progress.

The ScoreVision system turns any facility into a high-definition presentation room which can be leveraged for many other purposes including assemblies, conferences, and graduations. Schools can even utilize the displays in conjunction with curriculums and career engagement opportunities for students interested in Marketing, Broadcasting, Design and Technology. The excitement was piqued when the attendees learned about the system’s ability to offer sponsorship and advertising opportunities that can help subsidize or even cover the cost of the system while providing an ongoing source for revenue and fundraising.

Get Your Score On! Challenge

Amidst the excitement surrounding the system itself was a flurry of fun, activity and competitive spirit. The ScoreVision team hosted a “Get Your Score On! Challenge” right in the booth that allowed attendees to participate in a hoop-shooting competition while getting to experience the system in action. Each player competed for the chance to win an Apple Watch by shooting baskets in an arcade hoop while a statistician kept score on the giant scoreboard display in the booth. The objective was to score as many points as possible within 60 seconds. Congratulations to Deborah Namohala, Athletic Director at Kau High School in Pahala, HI for achieving the highest score over the 2-day event. Her incredible 81-point performance beat out over 150 other competitors for the prize.

Congratulations to Jon Martin, winner of the second Apple Watch prize awarded for participation in the GYSO Challenge held at the 2015 NIAAA trade show. Jon is the assistant Athletic Director at Breck School, a preschool-12 private school in Golden Valley, Minnesota. His name was selected randomly from the pool of remaining participants who competed in the GYSO Challenge. Congrats, Jon!
