Brownell Talbot Chooses ScoreVision

Published Sep 06, 2016, 04:53 am

Brownell Talbot, Nebraska’s only private, coeducational school serving students from preschool through grade 12, has a rich tradition of academic excellence. Founded in 1863, they’re proud to advance 100% of students to a four-year college or university. Graduates from the 2015 class received over $4.2MM in scholarships - a testament to the school’s dedication to providing a world-class educational experience.

As part of that ongoing commitment, Administration and Staff are always looking for ways to advance their programs, curriculums and facilities. Competing in the private, educational sector is not easy, so the school is continuously looking for ways to improve. As a result of that dedication, they’ve made a huge investment in adopting and integrating technology into the school’s environment - that’s where ScoreVision comes in.

Last October we installed a ScoreVision System in the Scott Gymnasium, the primary gym used for the majority of the school’s sporting and special events. There have been two key players in helping Brownell Talbot leverage our platform and its capabilities: Robb Uchtman, Director of Technology, and Wade Lahman, Technology Integration Specialist. We recently had a chance to sit down with Rob Uchtman to learn more about how our software and displays have helped the students and staff.

Here’s how Rob feels about ScoreVision’s mission to Educate:

“This technology has added functionality that we’ve never had before. It gives students an opportunity to showcase creative ability that is seen by fans and parents, and for the first time, gives students an opportunity to support student-athletes with accolades and hype videos. It has really brought our students together in new and exciting ways.”

A small example of how alternative use comes into play:

“We have chapel service on campus so when we hold our large, combined service we do it here in the gymnasium because our actual church isn’t big enough to hold everyone. We’ll use the displays to put songs for the hymns and bible verses to enhance this experience”.

Wade had this to offer when speaking of their first version of the hype video:

“It was quite an overwhelming experience, but the kids had so much fun with it. By the time we were done editing the first version and got ready to show it at our next home game, we had hundreds of new ideas for the next versions to make them even better. The kids are excited to build content people actually get to see!”

At the end of our time with Rob, he shared his thoughts about working with ScoreVision over the past year,

“They have been great to work with and very responsive to our needs. As a vendor, the people involved and the system itself has exceeded our expectations”.

The students and staff at Brownell Talbot have taken every opportunity to leverage our software. From V1 of their hype video, using the displays for graduation and other events, to promoting other school activities and accomplishments throughout the games, the opportunity for them to communicate with fans and spectators is limitless.

Teachers have used the display boards to enhance the classroom experience, using them to show videos and presentations on the large screens instead of a small television on a cart or a small, flat-screen TV. They’ve also downloaded various apps to be used on the boards, helping boost their productivity and the effectiveness of their instruction.

We’re excited to see what new content they create and how they take their ScoreVision experience to the next level. For more information about Brownell Talbot, please visit their website at
